THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues as well as step-parent adoptions, private adoptions at parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to avoid court processes and litigation.

After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Then, in 2014 she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who had suffered neglect or abuse at hands of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice went beyond her legal profession since she was actively a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state area.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law - divorce custody, child support and guardianships - as well as estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies - and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the commitment to provide a customized approach to each client's needs.
