Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses the majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes marital property distribution child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions and issues involving children's welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills, probate, and estate administration, along with commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by a court since the year and assists parties in helping to resolve their issues without need for litigation and court involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who wish to avoid the litigation and court process.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and legal research.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. The primary role she played at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice transcended her legal career as she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to increase awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017 she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her expertise in family law, including custody, divorce, child maintenance and guardianships – as well as estate and financial planning – wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the intention of providing a personalized approach for every client's needs.
